Acceptance of terms

By opting in to receive text messages from PEF Division 186, visiting division186.org, or otherwise engaging with Division 186 communications, you agree to these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree, please do not opt in or use our services.

About Division 186

Division 186 is a division of the Public Employees Federation (PEF), representing Professional, Scientific & Technical (PS&T) employees of the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance and Department of State in Region 12.

SMS/text messaging program

Division 186 offers a text messaging program to share meeting notices, grievance and labor-relations updates, event announcements, and general union communications with opted-in members.

• Consent: By providing your mobile number and opting in (via sign-up form, text keyword, or other method offered by the Division), you consent to receive recurring automated text messages from PEF Division 186. Consent is not a condition of union membership.

• Message frequency: Message frequency varies depending on Division activity and events.

• Message and data rates: Message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile carrier and plan.

• Opt-out: You may opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message. You will receive one final confirmation message. For assistance, reply HELP or contact your steward.

• Carriers: Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Acceptable use

Division 186 communications are intended solely for union representation, member engagement, and related labor purposes. Members may not use reply functionality to submit content that is unlawful, abusive, or unrelated to Division business.

No guarantee of delivery

While we make reasonable efforts to ensure timely delivery of communications, Division 186 does not guarantee delivery of any text message, email, or other communication. Members are encouraged to maintain multiple channels of contact (email, in-person steward contact) for time-sensitive matters.

Relationship to the Collective Bargaining Agreement

Nothing in these Terms modifies, supersedes, or is intended to interpret any provision of the PEF/State PS&T Collective Bargaining Agreement. These Terms govern only your use of Division 186's communication channels and website.

Changes to these terms

Division 186 may update these Terms and Conditions from time to time. Continued use of our communication channels after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
